“I’M SPOKEN FOR!”

October 6, 2010  -  5  Weeks

Well did you ever see such a group of long faces?! I guess this little bunch didn’t care too much for my photo shoot idea. LOL Well they sure are cute. This week the pups started eating kibble. They like it pretty well, but they may like throwing it around the pen even better! Yes, these little fur balls can make quite a mess but it’s all part of the learning process. They know the true meaning of “DIG IN!” Here is a little info about each pup…. Bizbee is very observant and likes to take things in. He is wide-eyed and loving. Chumley is hilarious! He is very funny because whenever we gaze at him in the pen he sits up and begs and then loses his balance and falls over onto his back. Roxy is so sweet. She looks at you with her big eyes and you just can’t resist picking her up. She cuddles in our necks. Will is playful and curious. He loves to be petted and have his ears scratched while being held. Nuggles is a sweet little boy who is cuddly. All of the pups are just too too cute and I love each and every one! Two big things coming for next week are: I think everyone will know which puppy they are taking home—How exciting! And the other thing is, if the weather holds, the pups will get a little taste of the outdoors sunning themselves outside on our back deck!

What a big week! Everyone is picking their puppies and now I know who is going to who—How exciting! I know everyone is picking the perfect puppy meant just for them. Things have occurred that I know are meant to be to make sure each pup gets placed exactly where they’re meant to go. As far as the pups themselves, they have had their biggest week of all. The weather has been so beautiful that they have been spending time outside on our back deck, enjoying the sun and the fresh air. They also have started eating kibble on more regular basis and it is the biggest part of their diet now, which means they are nursing less, which makes momma glad because she’s had enough of those teeth! I also increased the size of their pen and gave them a “den” (an upside down, top-half of a large dog crate) which they enjoy huddling together in. They also have been hanging out with their “cousins”, Blossoms pups, another reason for making the pen bigger. Those pups are little too small yet to be left with them too much though because this group has become very playful and at times their playing is too rough on those littler ones. They are so cute and sweet and fun now, wagging their tails at us, demanding our attention, and playing and snuggling with us. They will get their microchips later today as well. Congratulations to you all who have picked your puppies! I know they are all going to super wonderful loving homes!

The pups’ world is expanding! They got to play outside in the big big world, which for now is as big as our yard LOL. Pretty huge to little tiny puppy standards. They LOVED it as you can see for yourself by following this link to watch the pups at play. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=God2elhAmdA

They chewed on apple bits from our orchard, sticks, and leaves. We were quick to stop them from actually eating all but the apples, of course. They chased momma Faye as she played fetch and ran and rolled around with each other in the grass.

Indoors we have expanded their world as well, giving them the entire space of floor within the couch area in the living room so nice with our new wood floor! Clean up is a dream! (Never thought cleaning up poo and pee could be used in a sentence with the word dream, but it actually fits in this case!)

The pups are eating in their little “puppy condo”, which is something I put together for each pup to have their own little “crate space” while they eat and get used to being separated from the others. Not completely though, because it is set up kind of apartment style, so they are next to, beneath or above one another and hear and smell each other. That is for now until next week when they start going into real crates for meals and starting over night. Better catch up on my sleep now while I can!

This week’s photos are SOOOOO cute I can hardly stand it! I couldn’t resist the idea of dressing them up for Halloween. Now, isn’t this just the cutest bunch of little “trick or treaters” you’ve ever seen? Adorable!

The pups will start to sleep in the puppy condo over night starting tonight. They have been doing fairly well at meal times but this is a big step having to spend the night out of the huddle. They will still be able to smell and hear each other and sense each other. It will be a gentle step to next week when they move into their very own crate for nighttime. I can’t believe there’s only two more weeks until these little guys go home. Off to the vet tomorrow for our Hearts & Whole Health Check!

This week with the weather becoming nice again the pups have been able to play outside again. They have loved exploring outside and rolling and tumbling with each other. All the pups have been doing great in their cubbies overnight able to go from 11pm to 6am! Tonight will their first night in their very own crates. We’ll just have to see if the transfer goes smoothly, which it usually does. I can’t believe next week these little cuties will be old enough to go to new homes. Time sure flies around here! I’m always busy playing with, feeding, and taking care of puppies, it’s going to seem like I have all kinds of time once they’ve all gone. Of course, our girl Izjah is expected to have puppies in December, so before I know it, it will all start again! So I will get my rest while I can. Who am I kidding anyway? …. I love what I do and can’t wait for the next furry bunch!

Gypsy is fitting right in as you can see in the picture with one of his big sisters, Anna.  Anna and him are buds.  They enjoy playing tug-a-war with each other using Gypsy's rope toy.  Gypsy follows her around and sometimes you can see that Anna isn't too please to have a shadow but she is real good with him.  Occasionally our older springer, Jaz, will allow him to pull on her ears and play a few minutes but that's about it then she walks away to go nap.

Gypsy loves his two human siblings, Zach (8) and Elena (4), too.  They play catch and lounge around on the couch. A few neighbor girls come over after school and play with him while they let him outside to take care of business.  He really has made a lot of friends.  (How could you not with a face like his!)

FAMILY UPDATES:

Tucker is doing very well.  He LOVES to snuggle and bury himself in the midst of people and blankets.  We, of course also love to snuggle with him as well.  He has started barking a bit and is having trouble with house training, but I know that it is not pleasant to be outside when it is so cold.  He is heading in the right direction and I am confident he’ll do better when the weather warms up and he can find grass again.

He is a beautiful puppy and we hate to see him grow up.  Our other dog, Bernie has grown attached to Tucker. They are funny and have managed to get into trouble together a few times.  Tucker is a maniac when it comes to feeding time.  We laugh every time we set the food dish down.

Thanks again for starting our little guy in such a loving environment.  He is a good dog.

Angela,

We've had such a great time with Chumley over the past year, we thought we'd share some highlights. He's a very friendly dog, he loves hanging out with the family, he can't get enough of the lake (he floats around on a kneeboard for hours while we swim), and he's been a great addition to our family. We just love him.
