Our Birthday The puppies arrived in the order they are pictured above from left to
right. Fist is Dandy, born at 9:15 a.m./7.4 oz—”Dandy” because I looked at
him and said, “Now aren’t you just dandy.” Second is Buster Brown, born at
9:36 a.m./6.1 oz.—”Buster Brown” because when a pup is first born you have to
rub and stimulate them to cry… Well, he was stubborn and wouldn’t so I said,
‘Listen here, Buster Brown, I wanna hear you.” Third is Sheldon, born at
10:14 a.m./6.5 oz.—”Sheldon” for no particular reason, it just seemed to fit.
Fourth is Sweet Pea, born at 10:40 a.m./6.9 oz.—”Sweet Pea” because she is
the only girl and, well, just look at what a sweet pea she is! Fifth is
Davey, born at 10:50 a.m./5.9 oz.—”Davey” because, well it’s kinda strange,
but because when I looked at him I was reminded of a clay-mation series I
loved when I was a little girl with a little boy named Davey and I thought he
was as cute as that. And sixth (last but not least) is Dolby, born at 11:30
a.m./6.8 oz.—”Dolby” because I told my self whichever boy cried the loudest
when he was born I was going to name Dolby for having such good, clear sound. All the puppies are strong and healthy and nursing well, being well cared
for by Momma Fibi who adores them, all of whom are safe and sound under my
watchful eye. |

2 Weeks It was so fun to see the pups again after returning from our vacation.
How they’ve grown! Some of them are beginning to open their eyes. They are
all healthy and very content. The pups nurse often all day long then spread
out and relax in between their many meals. (Dandy always stretches out belly
up—too cute!) To get back to momma they do the army crawl until they find
her. Some are getting strong legs and trying to use them but they are very
wobbly and it will be a few weeks before the pups can actually walk around on
all fours. These little furry faces are so cute and adorable and each one
completely kissable! A BIG thank
you to my wonderful trusted friend Kris for taking such good care of momma
& babies so I could enjoy my vacation! |

3 Weeks These little cuties have us saying “AWWWWWW….” Awwl day long! They are
walk-wobbling all over their little pen and I can hardly believe that next
week I will be setting them up in their larger pen in the family room. Now that their eyes are open their world has really expanded for them.
They are responding to sights and sounds (always a good sign!) all around
them. One day I was picking up the pups one by one, weighing them, checking
their nails, and giving hugs and kisses, and Dandy sat right up, raised his
head, and looked for me and when he found me he locked eyes with me and just
kept looking at me as if he were trying to tell me, “Hey, don’t forget about
me!” Upon which I immediately picked him up! It was truly the sweetest thing
and my heart did a big lurch you can be sure. As expected momma and pups continue to thrive healthily and contentedly.
We are very excited for our puppy families to come out and meet this bunch of
precious little ones! |

4 Weeks They just keep getting cuter! I can hardly stand it. The perfect cure-all
for anyone having a bad day, I’d say! The pups have now been moved to our
main level. This mean they get their own little “Pup Tent” (pictures at left)
which is their den, and a larger pen. They are now learning to keep their den
clean and to come out and use the pee-pee pad, which covers the majority of
the pen floor, which is a large piece of linoleum. Right now, only a small square of the linoleum
is exposed. So the pups are being exposed to many new surfaces and
experiences. Everything for a puppy that is new is a “situation”. So when they were
placed in the pen for the first time they laid frozen in place all splayed
out—Think bear rug! Slowly but surely they get their bearing, start sniffing
around and by the next day they are perfectly comfortable in their new
surroundings. They are playing with each other a lot more. Little growls come up from
the behind the couch while we’re watching tv or walking by and we just have
to stop whatever we’re doing to watch a little while, cuz there just is
nothing cuter than a pile of playful little puppies! |
